Our Story
Organisations today are caught between two opposing forces. They are held back by decades of legacy debt they poorly understand, while simultaneously struggling to bring new products and services to market fast enough. The result is a feedback loop of rising costs, stalled innovation and lost revenue. And it gets worse the longer it goes unchecked.
Breaking that loop requires two things: a high-fidelity understanding of your legacy systems and a radical improvement in the productivity of your delivery teams. Until recently, neither was achievable at pace.
That changed in late 2025, when breakthroughs in Agentic AI crossed a historic threshold. Advances from Anthropic, OpenAI and others pushed us past simple code assistance and into a new era.
An experienced engineer no longer writes code manually. They direct a team of AI agents to build, test and deploy production-grade software. This is Human-Led Agentic Engineering.
// how we started
Interrupt22 was founded to exploit that shift. We used Agentic Engineering to build something genuinely hard: a proprietary platform that reverse-engineers legacy systems into accurate, validated blueprints. We did this at a moment when the people who built those systems are leaving or retiring. Every requirement our platform generates is deterministically traceable back to source. Not an AI guess – a verified fact.
// what we do
That experience made us experts in modernising legacy systems and in scaling Agentic Engineering across engineering teams. Today we work across two areas:
Legacy System Modernisation – Our platform, process and expert teams reverse-engineer your legacy systems into high-fidelity blueprints, then use Agentic Engineering to build the replacement. Shorter timelines, lower risk and budget freed for innovation.
Agentic Delivery & Enablement – We help organisations scale Agentic Engineering across their business, reconfiguring operating models, upskilling workforces through structured training and delivering production-grade exemplars that set new standards for short-cycle delivery.
Our mission is to build a leading Agentic Engineering business and to create roles for a new generation of software engineer. Software engineers are being told they are no longer needed.
In reality, their role has shifted. AI does not replace engineers; it elevates them. We are actively creating UK jobs, building an AI-empowered workforce to resolve the most complex enterprise and public sector IT challenges.
// the founders
Interrupt22 was founded in the UK in late 2025 by three experienced leaders: James Tennant, a software engineer pioneering AI-driven legacy modernisation; Charlotte Morris, a proven entrepreneur with a track record of building successful companies; and Ben Scowen, an IT executive who has led tier-one consultancy engineering businesses.
