James Tennant – Technology & Product Director
// background
James is a pioneering software engineer and AI architect with a software engineering degree and 25+ years' experience, primarily across the public sector. He combines deep hands-on engineering skill with large-scale transformation delivery and CxO advisory experience. James is as energised by writing code as he is by shaping strategy or helping teams unlock what AI can actually do for them.
// at Interrupt22
In late 2025, James co-founded Interrupt22. As Technology & Product Director, he is responsible for the technical direction of the business and all design, development and delivery of its software products and accompanying proprietary processes. James leads the development of Interrupt22's agentic modernisation platform, which reverse-engineers legacy systems into high-fidelity, traceable blueprints and enables rapid, safe modernisation. The platform was built using advanced models including Claude Opus 4.5 and Codex. He also represents Interrupt22 externally in thought leadership and at industry events.
// before Interrupt22
Before founding Interrupt22, James spent 18 years at Capgemini across five progressively senior roles. As AI Architect, he led cross-business generative AI initiatives delivering 20 to 40% productivity gains on production projects. As Chief Architect, he led technical delivery of large-scale CX transformation programmes and helped secure over £20M in successful bids. As Lead Architect, he oversaw up to ten scrum teams delivering UK Critical National Infrastructure and Government Major Projects. Earlier at Capgemini, James progressed from Lead Developer to Solution Architect, delivering infrastructure migrations, greenfield development and some of the first agile adoption in the organisation.
Before Capgemini, James spent three years as a freelance Technical Lead at HMRC, digitising paper-based processes, and six years at EDS, where he started as an apprentice C developer and established himself as an emerging technologies specialist.
